ABOUT US

ABOUT US

We want to see God move in our community

Together we are a community of believers. What does that mean, the word community? We believe that together in fellowship we grow closer to God and one another. The bible speaks about iron sharpening iron. We believe that together we grow stronger. We are a community of believers.

We highly value our relationships with one another. We look to grow through fellowship, and ultimately growing closer to God. We value the word of God, and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We look to extend grace to all of the lost and broken, and lead those with no hope to the hope of Jesus Christ.

WHO WE ARE

Our Mission

Together we are a community of believers. What does that mean, the word community? We believe that together in fellowship we grow closer to God and one another. The bible speaks about iron sharpening iron. We believe that together we grow stronger. We are a community of believers.

Our Vision

We want to help people know who God is. To know of God's love for them so they will never feel insignificant again. To know God is always with them so they will never feel alone again. To know God's purpose for them so they will never feel lost again. To know God's grace for them so they never feel rejected again. To know God's salvation for them so they never feel afraid again.

Our Values

We highly value our relationships with one another. We look to grow through fellowship, and ultimately growing closer to God. We value the word of God, and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We look to extend grace to all of the lost and broken, and lead those with no hope to the hope of Jesus Christ.

OUR HISTORY

Small Beginnings

  1. The Winsloe Pastoral Charge was made up of 5 individual churches, Winsloe South, Winsloe North, Highfield, Princetown Road and Brackley.
  2. Some of these churches needed some major renovations and discussions started happening about closing some of thes building and refurbishing others.
  3. In May of 1992 a survey was commissioned from U.P.E.I. to explore the churches' members views and opinions on one replacement church in a central location.  The majority favoured amalgamating.
  4. Teams of two were sent out to visit members in thier homes to see what kind of financial support would be forthcoming.
  5. Financing was obtained and land was purchased from Gordie MacLean in Winsloe South.
  6. A sod turning ceremony was held on October 25, 1996.
  7. The first service in WInsloe United Church was held on Palm Sunday, April 05, 1998 with Reverend Les Jay, the Moderator of the United Church of Canada, the Right Reverend Bill Phipps and the Maritime Conference taking part in the service.
